  • 1. How long does it take to fully charge the Feiyu Video Rig for Smartphone?
    It takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge.
  • 2. How long can the Feiyu Video Rig for Smartphone last while powering a phone?
    WApproximately 40 minutes.
    Note: After the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone runs out of battery, the phone will reverse-charge it so you can keep using it.
    The Feiyu Video rig for smartphone also supports being used while charging.
  • 3. Why does the phone automatically stop recording when the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone is low on battery?
    It is normal for recording to stop when the phone automatically switches to discharging mode; you can simply restart recording manually.
  • 4. Pressing the phone-charge button on the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone causes recording to stop—why?
    When the phone switches between charging and discharging, the storage drive needs to reload, so recording stopping is normal—please just restart it manually.
  • 5. Why can’t the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone charge the phone or turn on the cooling fan?
    When the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone’s battery is too low, it cannot charge the phone or power the fan.
  • 6. How do I enable external storage on an iPhone?
    Connect the iPhone to the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone’s high-speed HUB cable, insert the storage drive into the rig, and make sure Apple ProRes is enabled in Settings (Settings > Camera > Formats > Apple ProRes).
    Open the native Camera app, switch to Video mode, and confirm the ProRes LOG icon in the top-left has no slash; “USB-C” should appear at the bottom once the connection is recognized.
    Note: The settings for the iPhone 17 Pro/iPhone 17 Pro Max may differ slightly. After enabling Apple ProRes, tap ProRes Encoding at the bottom and select Log. Open the native camera on your phone, select Video, tap the Resolution setting in the upper left corner, and make sure ProRes is Log or HDR. A connection icon will appear in the upper right corner.
  • 7. Does the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone support external recording on Android?
    External recording is not supported on Android; the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone can only read/write to storage devices.
    Currently, external recording is supported only on Apple Pro-series phones with a Type-C port: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max/iPhone 17 Pro/iPhone 17 Pro Max.
  • 8. How do I turn on the cooling fan?
    While the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone is powered on and has more than one bar of battery, press the fan button once to start cooling.
  • 9. Can I connect an external microphone to the Feiyu Video rig for smartphone?
    Yes; Expansion Port 1 (Type-C) and Expansion Port 2 (Type-C) support external microphones.
    (Note: the bottom-most Type-C port is for charging only and does not support microphones or storage devices.)
  • 10. What are the required write speeds for the memory card/external hard drive when using external recording?
    For recording 1080P 30 fps / 1080P 60 fps / 4K 30 fps / 4K 60 fps video, the requirements are:
    1) 1080P 30 fps: SD card writing speed ≥ 30 MB/s
    1080P 60 fps: SD card writing speed ≥ 80 MB/s
    4K 30 fps: SD card writing speed ≥ 130 MB/s
    4K 60 fps: SD card writing speed ≥ 300 MB/s
    (Actual performance may vary depending on scene complexity.)
    2) The card must be formatted as APFS or exFAT and must not be password-protected.
